The Cause for the Coast

Greetings, In this chapter I would like to briefly share with you the proposed Voyage.

We have named it the Voyage of Coastal Preservation . The is the simplest way to describe what

we would like to accomplish on this Journey. It is to be a photodocumentary to bring awareness

to the vanishing ecosystems on our coasts and coastal waters, and the relationship the coast has with the people living near them . The project is to focus on the Pacific Coast of Mexico and in to the fishing communities in the Sea of Cortez. There is a rich culture in the people of this area and a strong bond to the ocean in these communities. We would like to share one year at least with

the local people and families in these coastal regions and document the changes they are going through and changes observed in the coasts and ocean of these delicate regions. We will be documenting through photos and written and recorded words. The goal is simply to bring awareness and offer options for change and preservation, and to preserve these traditional lifestyles for the future.

The other aspect of this project is to promote clean and responsible boating practices, and energy independence. The entire project will be done from the sailboat and in the local villages, so it seems only wise to promote simple low impact boating to other voyaging sailors and to the local

boats and fishermen. Our boat is completly solar powered and will rely primarily on the wind to move us. Simple Living Through Sail Power. So we have the proper boat and skills to be sucessful along with partners here in Portland, The one thing we lack is proper funding.

We are doing this all for no profit aside from the findings and shared adventure of this journey.

I have set up an online fundraising center to attempt drum up support for this project. Also feel free to email me with questions or ideas or to donate. Everyone who decides to take part in this

project in anyway is more than welcome to join for any leg of the journey from Portland Oregon

or any port we stop into. I want to share this experience with as nany as possible . Thanks for your time . Contact in info to follow...In the next chapter I will go into more detail about me and my partners and of course the boat that will take us there. Fair Winds to you all!!
