The First Chapter

Greetings to all . I am a simple sailor, with a simple Boat, with a simple mission . One that will

constantly be evolving , and I welcome anyone to follow along on this adventure for as long as

its fun for you. That is advice that has been given to me in the past and it still holds true today.

To get into the basics of my journey and my goal , I will begin by describing my boat . Her name is Minor Key , a name given to her by her first owner . He being a musician bestowed

many musical details to the boat. She is a Cascade 29 HULL# 206 layed up here in Portland,

Oregon in 1971. She was finished in 1973, and sailed regularly in the San Juans and the Seattle

area. Eventually she arrived here in Portland , her birthplace. After passing through a few hands

she was placed in the care of Wade Cornwell, one of the founders of Cascade Yachts, or Yacht Constructors Inc. her in Portland. I purchased her from Wade ( now 94 years young ) about 2

years ago. Since then I have been refitting her and enoying her seakindly sailing here on the Mighty Columbia River. The plan for Her and for Me in to prepare her for more voyaging into

Mexico and possibly further. This will be the greatest undertaking of my life thus far. It has proven to be the most rewarding also. One mission of our voyage is to simplify and to promote

ecological travel and exploration through SailPower.

In the next posting I will share more of my Self Story and Plans and reason to travel so.
