Well after our first gale at sea and the many other things that have been very new and wonderful , we are on the south oregon coast. We are in the smallest port we have encountered thus far. We left Newport with much more sea confidence than before and it helped our next passage out dramatically even when the thick and heavy clouds rolled in that night. We didn't get a gale or even much wind or rain at all to speak of, but it did make our entrance the next morning into Coos Bay a little more of a challenge. We were both very happy that we had navigated properly and the GPS had done such a good job because it was sooo cloudy that land was not even visible. But finally we found our entrance buoy and headed in across the Bar. By the time we had tied the boat to the very salty dock the clouds started to break up and its been sunny and warm since. This is probably our favorite port yet. Its a real fishing town and not at all touristy, and its a bit cheaper. Its the first place we have seen sea anenomes and sweet tide pools with so much life everywhere. Just today we had four super cute sea lions posing for photos next to our boat. Its also the first time we have seen a sea lion sleeping on the dock...and dreaming quite a dream! Everyone has been really nice and laid back, more like a small town . The weather is looking like it should be sunny and warm for a while at least...not much for wind though . But we leave for California in the morning and get to say goodbye and farewell to the moody Oregon coast. We love you though Oregon and we will miss you !
