Two Rough Ocean Bar Crossings in One Day!
Just wanted to check in with everyone, and let you all know we have made it across the Columbia River Bar! We crossed thursday morning , and boy was it exciting! Lots of swell, yet such an amazing morning. We crossed with our new friend Bruce , who is also sailing a Cascade 29 down the coast for his first time. We arrived at the Tillamook Bar at around 5PM and proceded to cross one of the roughest bars on the pacific coat on an ebb tide ( not advisable for future reference). Yet we made it unscathed and tired. We have been anchored in Tillamook Bay and in Garibaldi since Thursday waiting good weather for crossing. The swell has been huge but is supposed to retreat a bit tommorow so we can hopefully make it back out into the ocean , and head south fast! Love you all, and thanks for the sweet messages!!

Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea.
But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
Turns again home!
Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark;
For though from out our bourn of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crost the bar.
~ Alfred Lord Tennyson
