Hello Astoria !! We made it !!

We arrived in Astoria on Thursday afternoon after an epic journey down the Columbia river. After the sweetest send off we spent our first night in St.Helens. We awoke the next morning relativly early and ventured onward to Cathlamet, Washington. This was the furthest we had gone thus far ,we covered nearly 50 river miles and arrived in Cathlamet at around 6PM. Cathlamet is a tiny little rustic river town with a lively maritime history. We had a good amount of time to rest for our last push into Astoria. We had to wait until about noon to leave Cathlamet to try to flow out with the tide, this kinda worked as we got closer to Astoria. We came around the Cape Horn of the Columbia river which totally lived up to its name. The chop turned from nonexistent to about 4-5 ft. A very exciting ride , and Minor Key took it like champ!
The chop stayed with us all the way to Astoria until we passed under the Astoria bridge and into the Port of Astoria. We are waiting out some interesting weather in Astoria right now. Two sizable but fast moving fronts have been making their way through and giving us 25 to 40 knot winds! Howlingly exciting! So we have just been enjoying the nice energy and people of Astoria. Luckily this weather is forecast to pass next week which should give us a nice window to cross the bar and head south!!
